The University of Washington’s social work program was ranked No. 1 in the world in an analysis published this week. It was the highest among 45 University of Washington subject areas identified as in the top 10 globally.

In fact, Health Sciences accounted for over half of the UW's 45 subject areas listed in the Center for World University Rankings’ report.

School of Social Work Dean Eddie Uehara responded to the No. 1 ranking: “This recognition of our scholarship and research excellence is a high honor. It's a testament to our academic strength, which supports continued classroom innovation and our ability to create real impact in the communities we serve.”

The organization said its rankings are based on an analysis of the quality of education, training and research, and the relative prestige of faculty members. The data was gathered by Clarivate Analytics, previously the intellectual property and science subsidiary of Thomson Reuters.
