Research funding at ‘crucial’ stage, say NIH chief, Murray

Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and U.S. Sen. Patty Murray led a discussion about a potential budget crisis in medical research funding during a visit Tuesday to UW Medicine’s campus in South Lake Union.

The University of Washington is one of the nation's top recipients of federal research dollars, which are at a "crucial juncture," Collins said.
